Warts & Verrucas
The common wart, often found on the back of hands, fingers and feet is a benign lesion caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). It appears as a small rough bump, sometimes painful, potentially affecting nail growth when around cuticles. Children, especially affected, often develop common warts, with incidence decreasing after age 15. Virus transmission occurs through self-contamination, skin contact, or indirect contamination.
